SILVER SPRING -- Open Circle Theatre (OCT), Washington, DC's first professional theatre dedicated to producing productions that integrate the considerable talents of artists with disabilities, announces today its upcoming production of Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht, running from July 3-24 at Round House Theatre in Silver Spring.
Featuring Suzanne Richard and Scot McKenzie, this production continues OCT's mission to showcase theatre artists and administrators with disabilities. In that spirit, directors Grady Weatherford and Monique Holt bring together the cutting edge experimental work of the DC Metro theatre community and the visual language of deaf culture. Through combining their different views of the world, sharing their mutual ideas about theatre, and utilizing a cast that spans all cultures; a piece emerges that exposes differences, similarities, universal truths, and how we are all human at our root.
Produced in association with Quest: arts for everyone and sponsored by Audio Description Associates and Sign Language Associates, Caucasian Chalk Circle will offer on-demand Audio Description for blind and low vision patrons at every performance. The production also uses ASL and gestural communication throughout and is accessible for Deaf audience members.
