At Open Circle Theatre, we believe theatre belongs to everyone. For over two decades, we’ve created groundbreaking performances that center accessibility, inclusion, and the voices of disabled and d/Deaf artists.

But right now, arts funding is uncertain, and in today’s political climate, the voices of disabled and marginalized communities are often ignored—or actively pushed aside. Sustaining this work has never been more critical.

With generous, continued support from the Doris Duke Foundation, beginning October 1, we know a brighter future is ahead. But September leaves us with a critical gap.

Your gift today is more than a lifeline—it’s an act of resistance and hope. It says clearly: disabled and d/Deaf voices belong at the center of culture.

Your generosity sustains programs that are transforming the landscape of disability arts, including:

  • VitaNova — A live + online theatre experience, supported by the Doris Duke Foundation, bringing performance to audiences who can’t attend in person.
  • Open Doors Festival — Celebrating disability culture with partners like Georgetown University, Story Tapestries, Woolly Mammoth Theatre, and more.
  • The Hive — A creative community just for disabled and d/Deaf artists, with safe space drop-ins and even a Dungeons & Dragons group born from imagination.

These aren’t just programs—they are platforms where marginalized voices rise, where art meets justice, and where community thrives.

This is the bridge moment: between what we’ve built and the bigger, staffed, sustainable future ahead. In times when disability rights and inclusive arts are under threat, your support ensures those voices are not silenced but amplified.

Donations keep us going—but spreading the word multiplies the impact. We’ve created first and third person versions you can use to reach friends, family, and colleagues directly.

Personal notes matter most. A quick email or letter from you could be the bridge that inspires someone new to give. Every message expands our reach and strengthens this movement for accessible, inclusive theatre.

Every gift, big or small, gets us closer to the future we’re building together.

Together, we can make sure Open Circle Theatre continues to be a home for accessibility, creativity, and disability culture.
