The Open Doors Festival brings together artists with disabilities from around the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia area and has begun attracting national attention. The Open Doors Festival celebrates the voices and talents of the disability arts community, through public performances, workshops, panel discussions, art making, and an arts market. This public event builds and bolsters important connections made through the Open Circle Hive – a disabled only safe space for mentoring, collaborating, and relationship building. Open Doors Festival and Open Circle Hive opens the door for others who happen to be disabled to recognize there is a community for them in the performing, visual, and theatrical arts scene both on the artistic side and as an audience member as well as being open to the public at large.
